The banned Misty Pokemon card people search for is Misty’s Tears, the Gym Challenge Trainer whose artwork differs between the Japanese and English releases, and no source prints a ban: Bulbapedia records an artwork change, and the official Pokemon.com banned list does not name the card. The same search brings up a gym leader with a deep Japanese lineup, from the Miracle Twin Super Rare Misty’s Favor to the Super Rare Misty & Lorelei, two Art Rares from Heat Wave Arena and the 20th Anniversary Misty’s Determination.
- Misty’s Tears (Gym Challenge #118) is the so-called banned Misty card; the sources document an artwork change for the English release, and the official banned list does not name it.
- Misty’s Favor SR (SM11 104/094) is offered as a PSA 10 back order at ¥62,203 (~$404) — sourced to order; the product page shows the current terms.
- SNKRDUNK, October 5, 2026: the lowest raw ask for 104/094 was ¥18,800 (~$122) and the lowest PSA 10 ask was ¥62,000 (~$403). Both are asking prices, not sales.
- New SNKRDUNK ask table for ten Misty prints, dated October 5, 2026.
- Card numbers, rarities and illustrators re-checked against the official Japanese card database.
- The Misty’s Tears history now follows Bulbapedia and the official banned list, with each source named.
- Our PSA 10 offers and back orders updated to the current product pages.
Market figures are the lowest asking prices on SNKRDUNK as of October 5, 2026, never confirmed sale prices. Our own prices are the current product-page prices as of October 5, 2026. USD figures convert at ¥154/USD, approximate.
The Banned Misty Pokemon Card Explained: What Actually Happened to Misty’s Tears
Misty’s Tears (Japanese: カスミのなみだ) is the card behind the banned Misty Pokemon card story. Limitless TCG lists it as Misty’s Tears: Gym Challenge, number 118, an Uncommon Trainer – Item illustrated by Ken Sugimori. The official Japanese card database does not list a card named カスミのなみだ, so the history rests on English-language references.
Bulbapedia, read from an archived copy dated September 9, 2026, states that in Japan the card was released in the Hanada City Gym theme deck, then in the Gym Challenge expansion, having previously been reprinted in the Japanese Leaders’ Stadium expansion. Its English card number is 118/132. The same page records that the artwork was changed between the Japanese and English releases: the Japanese artwork, also by Ken Sugimori, features a silhouette of Misty that Bulbapedia says appears to make her look naked.
Bulbapedia’s Gym Challenge set page, archived September 25, 2026, adds that two cards have different illustrations in the English and Japanese releases because they were deemed inappropriate. For Misty’s Tears, the English illustration is a Squirtle trying to stop Misty’s tears from falling. The same page gives the English expansion’s release date as October 16, 2000.
"Banned" is the label the card carries online and the term people search for. What the sources document is an artwork change for the English release. Neither Bulbapedia’s card page nor the official Pokemon.com banned card list, checked October 5, 2026, describes a ban, a recall or a withdrawal, and Misty’s Tears is not named on that list. Limitless’s legality row marks the card not legal in Standard and Expanded, which is format legality and not a ban statement.
Pokemon.com’s list does name Jessie & James: under Expanded it prints Jessie & James (Hidden Fates, 58/68 and 68/68), and for Standard it states that no cards are currently banned. Our Jessie & James guide covers that card, its Japanese SM10b prints and the date of the ban. For a wider look at what counts as banned, see our banned Pokemon cards explainer.
Misty’s Favor SR (104/094): Japanese Prints and Current Asks
Misty’s Favor (カスミのおねがい) was printed in Miracle Twin (SM11), released May 31, 2019. The official database lists two prints, 085/094 (U) and 104/094 (SR), both illustrated by Hideki Ishikawa. The card text is a Supporter effect: search your deck for up to three Supporters, show them to your opponent, put them into your hand, and shuffle your deck.
Limitless TCG lists the English card as Misty’s Favor in Unified Minds, as #202 (Uncommon) and #235 (Ultra Rare), both illustrated by Hideki Ishikawa. Limitless also labels the card Expanded legal as of October 5, 2026.
On SNKRDUNK, as of October 5, 2026, the lowest raw ask for the 104/094 SR was ¥18,800 (~$122), held by a grade B listing, and the lowest PSA 10 ask was ¥62,000 (~$403). The 085/094 U had a raw ask of ¥1,000 (~$6) in grade B and no PSA 10 ask. The full checklist for the set is on the SM11 card list.
Misty’s Favor SR 104/094 is offered as a PSA 10 back order at ¥62,203 (~$404).
A print-by-print breakdown of this card is in the Misty’s Favor SR 104/094 card guide. Misty’s Favor sits in the same collecting lane as other Supporter cards: see the Lillie cards guide and the Iono cards guide.
Misty & Lorelei (191/173): The SM12a Super Rare
Misty & Lorelei (カスミ&カンナ) appears in SM12a, the high class pack "TAG TEAM GX Tag All Stars", released October 4, 2019. The official page lists 11 cards per pack at ¥500 plus tax. The database prints two Misty & Lorelei cards: 147/173, which shows no rarity icon and is illustrated by Megumi Mizutani, and the SR at 191/173, illustrated by Ryuta Fuse.
The Supporter text on both: search your deck for up to three Water Energy, show them to your opponent, put them into your hand, and shuffle your deck. Additionally, you may discard five cards from your hand; if you do, your Water Pokemon can use a GX attack this turn even if you already used a GX attack.
Limitless TCG lists the English card as Misty & Lorelei, Cosmic Eclipse #199, labelled Uncommon and illustrated by Megumi Mizutani. Limitless’s print list for the Japanese 147/173 shows Cosmic Eclipse #199 as its international print; the 191/173 SR print is not documented there as of October 5, 2026.
SNKRDUNK, October 5, 2026: the lowest raw ask for the 191/173 SR was ¥15,000 (~$97), held by a grade C listing, and the lowest PSA 10 ask was ¥66,000 (~$429). The 147/173 had a raw ask of ¥1,000 (~$6) in grade A and no PSA 10 ask. The SR is offered as a PSA 10 back order at ¥68,954 (~$448). More detail on the print is in the Misty & Lorelei SR 191/173 card guide, and every SM12a card is on the SM12a card list.
Misty’s Psyduck AR & Misty’s Lapras AR: The 2025 Pair
Misty’s two signature Pokemon each have a regular print and an Art Rare in SV9a Heat Wave Arena, released March 14, 2025 at ¥180 per pack with five cards, per the official page.
| Card | Illustrator | Regular Print | English Counterparts (Limitless) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Misty’s Psyduck AR 071/063 | OKACHEKE | 022/063 (U), Yuu Nishida | Destined Rivals #45 (Uncommon) and #193 (labelled Art Rare) |
| Misty’s Lapras AR 072/063 | Orca | 027/063 (C), En Morikura | Destined Rivals #50 (Common) and #194 (labelled Art Rare) |
The database gives Psyduck as a Basic Pokemon with 70 HP, the Water type, the ability "どたばたジャンプ" and the attack "うちみず" for 30. Lapras is a Basic with 110 HP, the Water type and two attacks: "いっしょにおよぐ", which searches the deck for up to three "Misty’s Pokemon", shows them to the opponent, adds them to the hand and shuffles the deck, and "なみのり" for 60. Both Art Rares carry the same card text as their regular prints.
SNKRDUNK, October 5, 2026: the lowest raw ask for Psyduck AR was ¥3,999 (~$26) in grade B, with a PSA 10 ask of ¥13,700 (~$89). Lapras AR had a raw ask of ¥1,980 (~$13) in grade D and a PSA 10 ask of ¥9,750 (~$63). The two regular prints each show a raw ask of ¥1,000 (~$6) and no PSA 10 ask.
Misty’s Psyduck AR 071/063 is offered as a PSA 10 back order at ¥14,076 (~$91), and Misty’s Lapras AR 072/063 at ¥9,765 (~$63). The SV9a checklist is on the SV9a card list. For sealed product, the SV9a box (Sealed) is listed at ¥16,663 (~$108).
Not the Same Card: Misty’s Determination (CP6 099/087)
One more Misty card is worth separating from Misty’s Favor: Misty’s Determination (カスミのやる気), CP6 099/087. It comes from the XY BREAK concept pack "Pokemon Card Game Expansion Pack 20th Anniversary", released September 16, 2016 at ¥300 plus tax per pack with ten cards, per the official page. The database lists two CP6 prints: 085/087 (U, Ken Sugimori) and 099/087 (SR, Megumi Mizutani). The opening of the card text reads: discard a card from your hand, then look at the top eight cards of your deck and add any one of them to your hand.
Misty’s Determination and Misty’s Favor have different set codes, collector numbers and card text. Limitless TCG lists the English card as Misty’s Determination in BREAKpoint #104 (Uncommon), Evolutions #80 (Uncommon) and #108 (Ultra Rare), and Hidden Fates #62 (Uncommon). The database also prints a カスミのやる気 in three deck products: Vスタートデッキ水 ホエルオー (SD 110/127), トレーナーバトルデッキ：ハナダシティジムのカスミ (SMK 022/031) and a コンボデッキ60 (XYF 014/016).
SNKRDUNK lists both CP6 prints as 1ED (first edition) listings. On October 5, 2026, the 099/087 SR had a lowest raw ask of ¥78,000 (~$506) in grade B and a lowest PSA 10 ask of ¥137,790 (~$895). The 085/087 U had no raw ask and a PSA 10 ask of ¥11,800 (~$77).
A PSA 10 Misty’s Determination SR 1ED (CP6 099/087) is listed at ¥122,857 (~$798), and the same card is also offered as a PSA 10 back order at ¥121,665 (~$790). The U print, 085/087, is offered as a PSA 10 back order at ¥12,036 (~$78). Check the set name and card number against the product page before buying, since CP6 099/087 and SM11 104/094 are not interchangeable. The CP6 checklist is on the CP6 card list, and a longer breakdown of the SR is in the Misty’s Determination SR PSA 10 guide.

"Raw" is the lowest ask among the ungraded condition grades A to D on that SNKRDUNK listing, with the grade shown in brackets. "No raw ask" and "no PSA 10 ask" mean the listing shows no ask for that grade on October 5, 2026. Card names and numbers follow the official Japanese card database; the rarity column shows the database rarity icon.
The table covers five Misty cards with both prints of each. Our column shows the PSA 10 offer for the same card and number where one exists, and a dash where no offer exists. Sourcing requests for a print that has no offer go through Quick Order.
