Jessie and James have one Supporter card in the official card database, and the Jessie and James Pokemon card has been banned from the Expanded format since September 6, 2019. The Pokemon Company International announced the ban on August 8, 2019.
The card has two Japanese prints in Sky Legend (SM10b), a Rare and a Super Rare, and two Psychic-type Pokemon in the same set were built to combo with it. The newer Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex cards from Glory of Team Rocket (SV10) and M2a carry the organization’s name as well.
- Jessie & James (ムサシとコジロウ) has two prints in the official database, both from Sky Legend (SM10b): a Rare at 048/054 and a Super Rare at 062/054. The Super Rare is offered as a PSA 10 back order at ¥73,593 (~$478) — sourced to order; the product page shows the current terms.
- The card is banned in Expanded: announced August 8, 2019, effective September 6, 2019, and still on the official banned list as of October 5, 2026.
- The newer Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex cards come from Glory of Team Rocket (SV10); the SV10 box (Sealed) is listed at ¥20,357 (~$132).
- Expanded ban dated from the Pokemon.com announcement and re-checked against the official banned list.
- New SNKRDUNK ask tables for both Jessie & James prints and eight Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex prints.
- Card types, numbers and illustrators re-checked against the official Japanese card database.
- Our offers updated to the current product pages.
Card details come from the official Pokemon Card Game database and Limitless TCG. Market figures are the lowest asking prices on SNKRDUNK as of October 5, 2026, never confirmed sale prices. Our own prices are the current product-page prices as of October 5, 2026. USD figures convert at ¥154/USD, approximate.
Jessie and James Pokemon Card: The Sky Legend Supporter

Jessie and James — ムサシとコジロウ in Japanese — appear on a Supporter in Sky Legend (SM10b), the enhanced expansion pack released on April 26, 2019. Per the official product page, a pack held five cards at ¥150 plus tax. The official database lists this Supporter in two rows and no other ムサシとコジロウ card.
The card text, as printed in the database: each player discards two cards from their own hand, the opponent first, and a player with no cards in hand discards nothing. It has no search or draw effect. Both prints carry the same text and the same illustrator, Megumi Mizutani; they differ in rarity and artwork.
Limitless TCG lists the English cards as Jessie & James in Hidden Fates: #58 (Holo Rare) and #68 (Ultra Rare), both illustrated by Megumi Mizutani, with the text "Each player discards 2 cards from their hand. Your opponent discards first." Limitless’s print list for the Japanese cards shows Sky Legend #48 and #62 beside those Hidden Fates numbers, with no other print listed.
Rare vs Super Rare: Telling Them Apart
| Number | Rarity | Illustrator | English counterpart (Limitless) | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jessie & James | SM10b 048/054 | R | Megumi Mizutani | Hidden Fates 58/68 (Holo Rare) |
| Jessie & James | SM10b 062/054 | SR | Megumi Mizutani | Hidden Fates 68/68 (Ultra Rare) |
The 048/054 Rare sits inside the set’s printed count of 54. The 062/054 Super Rare carries a number above that count. The Hidden Fates denominators (58/68 and 68/68) are the ones Pokemon.com prints on its banned list.
Both prints run identical card text, so the effect tells you nothing about which one you hold. Check the number in the bottom corner: 048/054 is the Rare, 062/054 is the Super Rare.
Japanese listings use the rarity letters constantly in titles, so matching R or SR to the card number is a reliable way to confirm a listing. The full Sky Legend checklist is on the SM10b card list, and the Sky Legend card list covers every card in the set.
Jessie & James: Lowest SNKRDUNK Asks, October 5, 2026
| Card | Number | Rarity | Lowest raw ask | PSA 10 ask | Ours |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jessie & James (ムサシとコジロウ) | SM10b 048/054 | R | ¥4,000 (~$26) (grade A) | ¥13,000 (~$84) | — |
| Jessie & James (ムサシとコジロウ) | SM10b 062/054 | SR | ¥20,000 (~$130) (grade B) | ¥74,000 (~$481) | PSA 10 ¥73,593 (~$478) back order |
"Raw" is the lowest ask among the ungraded condition grades A to D on that SNKRDUNK listing, with the grade shown in brackets. The Super Rare’s lowest PSA 10 ask on October 5, 2026 was ¥74,000 (~$481), against a lowest raw ask of ¥20,000 (~$130). The Rare’s lowest PSA 10 ask was ¥13,000 (~$84).
The Super Rare is offered as a PSA 10 back order at ¥73,593 (~$478). Sourcing requests for the Rare or for other grades go through Quick Order.
Built to Combo: Arbok and Matadogas
Sky Legend printed two Pokemon that react to the Supporter’s discard effect. Both are Stage 1 Psychic-type cards with 120 HP in the official database.
Arbok (アーボック, 026/054) is an Uncommon illustrated by kirisAki. Its ability "いまわのもよう" makes the opponent discard two cards from their hand, without looking, when Arbok is knocked out by damage from an opposing Pokemon’s attack. Its attack "ロケットテール" deals 50 damage plus 80 more if ムサシとコジロウ is in your discard pile. The card lists Psychic weakness ×2 and a retreat cost of 2.
Matadogas (マタドガス, 028/054) is an Uncommon illustrated by Hideki Ishikawa. Its ability "ホワイトホール" can be used once when the card is discarded by the effect of ムサシとコジロウ on your turn: the opponent discards a card from their hand. Its attack "たいあたり" deals 40 damage and its retreat cost is 3. Limitless TCG lists Matadogas as Weezing (Hidden Fates #29) and Arbok as Arbok (Hidden Fates #27), both as Psychic-type cards.
Put together, the three cards form a small package: play the Supporter and both Pokemon gain a reason to be in the discard pile or on the field. For a themed display, the Supporter plus both Pokemon is the natural collecting unit. The set’s other prints are on the SM10b card list.
Why It’s Banned in Expanded
Pokemon.com’s banned card list, checked October 5, 2026, names Jessie & James (Hidden Fates, 58/68 and 68/68) under Expanded and states that no cards are currently banned in Standard. The Japanese Extra (エクストラ) regulation page, updated February 19, 2026, also lists ムサシとコジロウ. Confirm format legality before building around the card.
The Pokemon Company International announced the ban in its Hidden Fates banned list and rule changes announcement, dated August 8, 2019, with an effective date of September 6, 2019. It reads: "Jessie & James (Hidden Fates, 58/68 and 68/68) is now banned in the Expanded format."
The stated reason: like Delinquent, which was banned from Expanded earlier in 2019, there are combos with Jessie & James that can discard a player’s whole hand before their first turn, especially in conjunction with Weezing, and the announcement says that kind of strategy creates an unhealthy environment when it works a high percentage of the time. Weezing is the English name of the Matadogas above.
The ban is a rules decision about the format, not a statement about print scarcity. Both the Rare and the Super Rare share the same status, and rarity has no bearing on tournament legality, only on how the card is collected. The official lists are format regulation pages, not card databases; the card database page for the card prints no ban line. For the wider story of cards people call banned, see our banned Pokemon cards explainer and the Misty Pokemon cards guide, which covers Misty’s Tears.
Beyond the Supporter: Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex Family
The Team Rocket theme returned in 2025. The modern Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex (ロケット団のミュウツーex) carries the organization’s name in the card title. The official database lists eight prints: four in Glory of Team Rocket (SV10), released April 18, 2025 at ¥180 per pack with five cards, two in the high class pack M2a (MEGA Dream ex), released November 28, 2025 at ¥550 per pack with ten cards, one promo and one in the Battle Collection start deck.
The SV10 039/098, M2a 237/193 and M-P 043/M-P prints are Basic Psychic-type Pokemon with 280 HP, the ability "パワーセーバー" (this Pokemon cannot use attacks unless you have four or more Team Rocket’s Pokemon in play) and the attack "イレイザーボール" for 160 plus.
The M2a Special Art Rare (237/193, Mitsuhiro Arita) is offered as a PSA 10 back order at ¥20,568 (~$134), and the SV10 Double Rare (039/098) at ¥10,200 (~$66). Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex P (M-P 043) is offered as a PSA 10 back order at ¥15,124 (~$98).

The rarity column shows the database rarity icon; the M-P and MC rows show none.
The booster box holds the SV10-era Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex cards, not the 2019 Jessie & James Supporter or its Arbok and Matadogas set-mates; the two lines share a theme six years apart, not a product line. Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Jessie & James Pokemon card do?
It is a Supporter card from Sky Legend (SM10b). Per the official database text, each player discards two cards from their own hand, the opponent first, and a player with no cards in hand discards nothing. It carries no search or draw effect, so it is a pure disruption card.
How many Jessie & James cards are there?
The official Japanese database lists two: a Rare at SM10b 048/054 and a Super Rare at SM10b 062/054, both illustrated by Megumi Mizutani and released April 26, 2019. Limitless TCG lists the English cards as Hidden Fates #58 (Holo Rare) and #68 (Ultra Rare).
Is the Jessie & James Supporter card legal to play?
No in Expanded. The Pokemon Company International announced the ban on August 8, 2019, effective September 6, 2019, and Pokemon.com’s banned list still names the card as of October 5, 2026. The Japanese Extra regulation page also lists it. Pokemon.com says no cards are banned in Standard.
Why was Jessie & James banned in Expanded?
The announcement says combos with Jessie & James can discard a player’s whole hand before their first turn, especially with Weezing (Matadogas in Japanese). It compares the card to Delinquent, banned from Expanded earlier that year, and says such a strategy creates an unhealthy environment when it works consistently.
Which Pokemon combo with the Jessie & James card?
Arbok (SM10b 026/054) and Matadogas (SM10b 028/054), both Psychic-type and from Sky Legend. Arbok’s attack adds 80 damage if Jessie & James is in your discard pile, and Matadogas’s ability triggers when the Supporter’s effect discards it. Weezing is Matadogas’s English name.
Is Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex the same card line as Jessie & James?
No. Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex is a separate, newer card from Glory of Team Rocket (SV10, released April 18, 2025) and the high class pack M2a. It shares the Team Rocket theme but is a different card, printed six years after the Jessie & James Supporter.
What do the Jessie & James cards cost?
On SNKRDUNK, October 5, 2026, the lowest raw ask was ¥4,000 (~$26) for the Rare and ¥20,000 (~$130) for the Super Rare, with a PSA 10 ask of ¥74,000 (~$481) on the Super Rare. The Super Rare is offered as a PSA 10 back order at ¥73,593 (~$478).
