Pokemon 30th Celebration Premium Deck Set: Espeon and Umbreon Guide

The Four Headline Cards: Espeon ex & Umbreon ex

Each deck carries its ex Pokemon twice — once as a standard holofoil and once as a full-art version the official page calls a full-illustration (フルイラスト) card. That is the only rarity term Pokemon itself applies to 043/040 and 044/040. SNKRDUNK’s listing titles label the pair “SAR仕様” (SAR-spec) and Pokebeach’s English coverage has called them Special Illustration Rares — both media labels, not the official rarity. Pokemon’s own card database, updated September 9, 2026, credits the full-art pair to illustrator REND.

Espeon ex 014/040 (regular)

Psychic type, HP 260, Stage 1 evolving from Eevee. Its attack, Sunshine Beat ([P][C]), does 30 damage multiplied by the number of your own Pokemon in play. Weakness Darkness x2, Resistance Fighting -30, Retreat Cost 1, standard ex rule (the opponent takes two prizes on a knockout). Attack text is per Pokebeach’s translation; the official page itself does not print card text.

Umbreon ex 017/040 (regular)

Darkness type, HP 270, Stage 1 evolving from Eevee. Its attack, Lunatic Claw ([D][C]), does 100 damage, plus 140 more (240 total) if the opponent’s Active Pokemon already has damage counters on it. Weakness Grass x2, no listed Resistance, Retreat Cost 2, same two-prize ex rule. Our Umbreon ex full-art card guide covers the print in more depth.

Espeon ex 043/040 (full-art)

The same Pokemon as 014/040 in the deck’s full-art treatment, with the illustration credited to REND in Pokemon’s official card database (updated September 9, 2026). The lowest SNKRDUNK ask for 043/040 was ¥3,800 (~$25) as of September 30, 2026. Our Espeon ex full-art card guide covers it in more depth.

Umbreon ex 044/040 (full-art)

The full-art counterpart to 017/040, also credited to REND in the official card database. The lowest SNKRDUNK ask for 044/040 was ¥9,900 (~$64) as of September 30, 2026. Numbering note: this is an entirely different card from the M6a booster set’s Umbreon 077/103 — two separate Umbreon prints, two separate 30th-anniversary products that released the same day. Our Umbreon 077/103 card guide covers that booster print, and our secret-rare numbering explainer covers the general xxx/103 scheme; this deck box uses its own separate xxx/040 numbering. The official database also lists 041/040 Victini (illustrator satoma) and 042/040 Zeraora (illustrator HACCAN) as the two further illustration cards of the product.

Espeon ex Deck: Full 60-Card List

The official decklist for the Espeon ex deck, broken into Pokemon, Trainers and Energy:

Pokemon, Trainers and Energy come to 21, 21 and 18 — 60 cards, matching the official decklist on the product page. English trainer-card names above are working translations of their Japanese names, not official EN localisations, since no English version of this exact deck exists.

How to Play Them Out of the Box

Each box holds two constructed decks of 60 cards, so no deck-building is required to sit down with either one. Each deck is built around a single Stage 1 ex line that evolves from Eevee, with Ultra Ball, Poke Pad and Guy (four of them) in both lists.

The Energy split follows each ex card’s attack cost. The Espeon deck runs Basic Grass, Fire and Psychic Energy (5, 5 and 8 cards) for Sunshine Beat, which costs [P][C]. The Umbreon deck runs Basic Lightning, Psychic and Darkness Energy (5, 5 and 8 cards) for Lunatic Claw, which costs [D][C]. Trainers differ in a few slots: Potion and Brock’s Scouting on the Espeon side, Crushing Hammer and Boss’s Orders on the Umbreon side.

Japanese Set vs the English 30th Celebration Battle Decks

The closest English-language equivalent is the “30th Celebration” Battle Deck line, built on a different structure. Where the Japanese box bundles both 60-card decks, one shared tin case and one playmat into a single product, the English side is Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration Battle Deck—Espeon ex & Umbreon ex, described on pokemon.com’s product showcase as all-foil 60-card decks, each led by either Espeon ex or Umbreon ex and including a deck box, a coin and a playmat. The showcase page prints no price for it, so no English price appears here.

Per the same pokemon.com showcase, the English Battle Deck is available on October 30, 2026. The main English 30th Celebration expansion arrived on September 16, 2026, simultaneously worldwide, per pokemon.com’s release-day news post. No English release date has been printed for this exact bundled Japanese deck-set product.

The showcase describes an illustration rare-style Victini alongside Espeon ex and an illustration rare-style Zeraora paired with Umbreon ex in the English decks. In the Japanese deck set, the full-art Victini and Zeraora are cards inside the 60-card decklists, as the official list prints them. As of September 30, 2026, Bulbapedia states that the international 30th Celebration expansion includes cards released in the Japanese 30th Celebration expansion and in the 30th CELEBRATION Premium Deck Set Espeon & Umbreon product, while Japan keeps the two as separate purchases. Whether the exact full-art printings match is not stated on the official pages. Our Battle Decks vs Japanese Premium Deck Set comparison covers the structure differences in more detail.
