M6a 30th CELEBRATION Japanese Pokemon booster boxes with a Samurai Sword Tokyo card

If you want the core sealed product, start with the M6a 30th CELEBRATION Booster Box (Japanese). The rest of this page explains what the set is, how the related products differ, and where official information stops. For a step-by-step buying walkthrough, see Where to Buy 30th Celebration Japanese Boxes.

What is 30th Celebration?

30th Celebration is the anniversary expansion for the Pokémon Card Game, coded M6a in the Japanese MEGA series, and it is the first expansion released simultaneously worldwide, according to Pokemon.com (published June 1, 2026).

The anniversary products were announced in Pokémon Presents on February 27, 2026. The official announcement says the Pokémon Card Game turns 30 in October 2026, that the products would be released worldwide during 2026 (with some regions excepted), and that release timing may differ by country or region. That caveat matters for collectors: release timing can differ by region, so check the date for the exact product you want.

Pokemon.com also states that every card in the expansion is foil, including Basic Energy. Together with the pack price of 360 yen and 6 rare cards per pack, those are the pack facts the official pages give.

On this page, “30th Celebration” always means the Japanese edition unless we say otherwise. We sell sealed Japanese product, so the dates, prices and contents below come from the Japanese official pages, with Pokemon.com used where it adds facts the Japanese page does not give.

What is inside a 30th Celebration booster pack?

Each M6a pack contains 6 rare (キラ) cards in random insertion, and the official page states that every pack includes 1 Pikachu card and 1 basic energy card. The Pikachu is drawn from a lineup of 30 special variants, and the basic energy comes in 8 types with a special design by YOSHIROTTEN.

Our own M6a booster box page describes the same structure: 6 holo cards per pack, one card from the 30-card Pikachu lineup in every pack, and FUR as the new rarity. The official card set page also confirms that the expansion pack holds 6 randomly inserted cards.

Pack element What the sources say Source
Cards per pack 6 rare (キラ) cards, random insertion M6a official page
Pikachu 1 Pikachu card per pack, from 30 special variants drawn by 30 illustrators M6a official page
Basic energy 1 per pack, 8 types, special design by YOSHIROTTEN M6a official page
Foil Every card is foil, including Basic Energy Pokemon.com
Illustrators Pikachu illustrators include OKACHEKE, Yuu Nishida and Atsuko Nishida Pokemon.com
Per-box pull rates Not published by The Pokémon Company; online figures disagree, so we quote none Our M6a box page

Only two things are fixed in every pack: the Pikachu and the basic energy. Every other slot is random. No official page says a given box or pack must contain a particular chase card, so treat any claim of “a Mew ex in every box” as unsupported.

Which cards are in the 30th Celebration set?

The set has several lanes of cards rather than one headline card: 30 Pikachu rares, 30 anniversary reprints, two FUR cards, day-scene illustrated cards and illustration rares. The official M6a page and Pokemon.com name these groups, though neither gives a full card list in the text we use.

  • FUR (Futuristic Rare). Mew ex and Mewtwo ex (ミュウex, ミュウツーex). Pokemon.com says the new Futuristic rare debuts with Mewtwo and Mew illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN.
  • 30 Pikachu rare cards. Drawn by 30 illustrators, one of which appears in every pack.
  • 30 history cards. Anniversary reprints in special versions. The official page names Pikachu, Charizard, Misty (カスミ), Erika’s Jigglypuff (エリカのプリン), Sneasel (ニューラ), Shining Celebi, Lugia, Scizor ex, Darkrai & Cresselia LEGEND, Mew VMAX, Arceus VSTAR and Magikarp among them, 30 in total. Pokemon.com adds the Base Set Charizard and the Sun & Moon: Team Up Pikachu & Zekrom-GX.
  • Day-scene illustrated cards. Greninja ex, Pikachu ex, Jirachi, Toxtricity, Chandelure, Lycanroc, Zurrugg, Gholdengo, Hisuian Zorua, Seismitoad and Umbreon, per the official list.
  • Illustration rares and new ex. Pokemon.com lists Espeon, Umbreon, Lapras, Drifloon, Zorua and Lycanroc as illustration rares, and Greninja and Sylveon as new Pokémon ex.

One rule applies to the reprints. The official page states that anniversary reprints cannot be used in current Standard regulation, but can be used in any regulation where the original cards are legal. Pokemon.com repeats this for the Base Set Charizard and the Team Up Pikachu & Zekrom-GX. If you plan to play rather than collect, check the card text and your regional rules.

We keep card-by-card guides separate so this page does not go stale. The ones that exist on our site are Every Greninja Card, Every Sylveon Card and Every Umbreon & Espeon Card. For the high-value end of the set, our SAR and FUR price article is where current figures belong, not here.

The Pokémon Center Online lottery announcement also states that My Number Card identity verification was required and that most winning slots were reserved for verified people.

What is in the nine Card Sets?

Each Card Set holds three holo promo cards of one region’s starter trio, two M6a booster packs and a paper card stand, and there are nine sets from Kanto to Paldea. The official page lists them as follows.

Region order Starter trio (Japanese names on the official page)
1 Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle (フシギダネ・ヒトカゲ・ゼニガメ)

8 Grookey, Scorbunny, Sobble (サルノリ・ヒバニー・メッソン)
9 Sprigatito, Fuecoco, Quaxly (ニャオハ・ホゲータ・クワッス)

The Card Set All 9 Types listing bundles every set: 27 holo promo cards, 18 booster packs and nine paper card stands in total, factory-sealed. The listing says it is sold as a separate order and cannot be combined with other products, so check out any existing cart first.

Each Card Set is listed at 1,200 yen (tax included) on the official page and holds two M6a packs, three promo cards and a paper card stand. The Card Sets also have a later Japanese date than the expansion: October 16, 2026, one month after September 16.

What do the FUTURISTIC BOX and Premium Deck Set contain?

Neither product contains M6a booster packs. The FUTURISTIC BOX is a play-supply set with two Pikachu ex promo cards, and the Premium Deck Set is two ready-to-play constructed decks led by Espeon ex and Umbreon ex.

FUTURISTIC BOX

The official page lists these contents: promo Pikachu ex (2 types, 1 each), Pokémon coins (2), metal damage counter dice (12), metal markers (poison and burn, 1 each), a special deck shield set (64 sleeves), a flip deck case, a special display frame, a special rubber playmat, a flip damage counter case and a flip playmat case. The art is by YOSHIROTTEN. The page states that the product is handled only by Pokémon Center Online, and that it may later be sold at Pokémon Centers or Stores. Our FUTURISTIC BOX listing describes the two promos as being in the FUR finish.

Premium Deck Set Espeon & Umbreon

The official page lists two 60-card constructed decks (Espeon ex and Umbreon ex), 2 damage counter sheets, 2 coins, a paper playmat, a slide-type double deck case (tin), a beginner’s guide and a player’s guide. Full-illustration cards are Victini, Espeon ex, Zeraora and Umbreon ex. The page notes that the same cards appear multiple times because of the constructed format and that some cards are reprints. Our Premium Deck Set listing carries the Japanese edition.

How does the Japanese line differ from the English 30th Celebration products?

The expansion is a worldwide simultaneous release, but the English Battle Decks are a separate product from the Japanese Premium Deck Set, with their own contents and date. Pokemon.com lists the English 30th Celebration Battle Decks for Espeon ex and Umbreon ex as launching October 30, 2026.

Each English Battle Deck has 60 foil cards, 1 deck box, 1 playmat and 1 coin, with a Victini promo in the Espeon ex deck, a Zeraora promo in the Umbreon ex deck and an exclusive illustration rare-style promo card (Pokemon.com). That is a different product from the Japanese Premium Deck Set, which has two decks in a tin case and a full-size paper playmat. Do not assume the two are equivalent.

Comparison point Japanese Premium Deck Set English Battle Decks
Decks per product Two 60-card decks (Espeon ex, Umbreon ex) One 60-card deck each, sold as two products
Case Slide-type double deck case (tin) 1 deck box per deck
Playmat Paper playmat 1 playmat per deck
Date Sept 16, 2026 in Japan Oct 30, 2026 launch

We cover the English-versus-Japanese comparisons in dedicated articles: the official announcement timeline, the Pokemon Center English dates versus Japan, and the Knockout Collection versus the Japanese box. A specific card comparison is in Umbreon 077/103 vs English 091/128.

What is the 30th Celebration release timeline?

The official dates run from the February 27, 2026 announcement to the October 30, 2026 English Battle Deck launch, with the Japanese expansion on September 16, 2026. Each date below comes from the page linked in the row.

Which 30th Celebration option suits which collector?

If you want to open packs, the booster box or carton fits; if you want a small sealed entry, a Card Set fits; if you want play supplies or a deck, the FUTURISTIC BOX or Premium Deck Set fits. The choice depends on what you want to do with the product, not on a promised chase card.

  • The opener. The booster box is the sealed way to open M6a packs. Every pack has 6 foil rare cards plus the Pikachu and basic energy.
  • The case buyer. The carton is one full case of 12 booster boxes, shipped as the carton itself, not as 12 individual boxes.
  • The set collector. The nine Card Sets give you each region’s starter trio as promos. The all-9 bundle is the full run.
  • The player. The Premium Deck Set comes with two constructed 60-card decks, Espeon ex and Umbreon ex, and a tin double deck case.
  • The accessory collector. The FUTURISTIC BOX is built around play supplies: 64 deck shields, 12 metal damage dice and metal markers, together with its two promo Pikachu ex cards.

If you are chasing a single card, remember what the sources do not say. Our M6a page notes that in Japan the set is sold mainly through lottery allocations requiring My Number Card verification, so supply is limited. No source promises Mew ex, Mewtwo ex or any specific rare in a given box. A sealed box is a random-pack purchase.

What are Sealed, factory-film-removed and Damaged Box listings?

Sealed means the box keeps its factory film, the film-removed option is a box whose factory film has been taken off while the inner box stays unopened, and Damaged Box means the outer box has cosmetic damage and is discounted.

The M6a booster box page offers two purchase units for the same box, Sealed and the film-removed unit. Separate Damaged Box listings also exist:

The terms are strict. The listings say the photos are samples, the type and extent of damage vary by item, the item is sold as-is, and returns and refunds are not accepted. The same Damaged Box approach is used on the FUTURISTIC BOX, the Premium Deck Set and the Card Set All 9 Types.

Sample condition photo of another damaged box; the box you receive may differ
Second sample photo of outer-box damage on a different product; the actual item may differ

These two photos show other products’ boxes as general examples. They are not the item you will receive.

What is still unofficial about 30th Celebration?

Pull rates, per-card market prices and future value are not official facts, so this guide does not state them. The Pokémon Company does not publish per-box pull rates for M6a, and the figures that circulate online disagree with one another.

Here is a quick reference for how we treat claims about this set:

Claim type How we handle it
Release dates, pack contents, FUR names Stated, with the official source linked
Japanese list prices Stated only when an official page gives them
Pull rates and odds Not quoted
Single-card market prices Not quoted here; see our dedicated price articles
Future value Not predicted
Card numbers not on an official page Not given

That approach keeps the page accurate as the market moves. For a single card you want to grade, the Sylveon ex SAR 130/103 PSA 10 grading guide shows what graders check on a modern 30th Celebration card.
