Moltres has never had a huge Japanese print run compared to fan favourites like Pikachu or Charizard — but what it does have spans four sets and three card types.
This guide covers every confirmed Japanese Moltres printing we had listed in PSA10 grade when it was written: a Galarian-form V, a Team Rocket-themed ex, and a tag-team GX that Moltres shares with Zapdos and Articuno — printed twice, at two very different rarities. At the time of this update, none of the four is listed: three are not listed and one is sold out. We ship graded Japanese singles out of Tokyo.
The October 7, 2026 update covers our store listings and prices only; the other facts in this article were last checked on September 1, 2026.
Four confirmed Japanese Moltres printings are covered across four sets: the Moltres & Zapdos & Articuno GX SR (SA) from Sky Legend, the Galarian Moltres V, Team Rocket’s Moltres ex SAR and the same tag-team GX card as a base RR print. Set and rarity, not the artwork, decide the card here. At the time of this update, Team Rocket’s Moltres ex is sold out and the other three are not listed.
Listing status below is as of October 7, 2026.
Every Moltres Card and What It’s Worth
Four printings:
| # | Card | Set | Price (¥ / $) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Moltres & Zapdos & Articuno GX SR (SA) | Sky Legend (SM10b #060) | Not listed at the time of this update |
| 2 | Galarian Moltres V SR (SA) | Matchless Fighters (S5a #078/070) | Not listed at the time of this update |
| 3 | Team Rocket’s Moltres ex SAR | Glory of Team Rocket (SV10 #124/098) | Sold out at the time of this update |
| 4 | Moltres & Zapdos & Articuno GX RR (base) | Tag All Stars (SM12a #102/173) | Not listed at the time of this update |
The same Moltres & Zapdos & Articuno GX character trio and title appears twice on this list, printed at two different rarities in two different sets — we haven’t independently verified whether the two prints share identical artwork. That’s rare enough to deserve its own section below.
The Galarian Moltres V (Matchless Fighters)

The Galarian Moltres V is card #078/070 in Matchless Fighters (set code S5a), listed at SR rarity. It is not listed at the time of this update.
Matchless Fighters was one of the sets that leaned into the Galarian regional-variant line, and this V card is the set’s Moltres entry. If you’re specifically after full-art or alt-art Galarian Moltres treatments rather than this standard SR print, see the differentiation note further down this guide.
Team Rocket’s Moltres ex (Glory of Team Rocket)

Card #124/098 from Glory of Team Rocket (set code SV10) is a SAR-rarity Moltres ex, branded as one of the Team Rocket variant cards from that set. The PSA10 listing is sold out at the time of this update.
This is a different card from the Galarian Moltres V above — different set (SV10 vs S5a), different card number, and a different price bracket. Confirm the set code printed on the card before assuming you have one or the other.
Glory of Team Rocket built an entire roster of Team Rocket-branded legendary birds around this era, and our Team Rocket Japanese Pokemon cards guide covers that lineup in full, alongside the Glory of Team Rocket (SV10) card list if you want to see where this ex sits within the wider set.
One Card, Two Prints: The Moltres & Zapdos & Articuno GX
The remaining two Moltres printings share the same tag-team card name and character trio — Moltres & Zapdos & Articuno GX — issued at two different rarities in two different sets; we haven’t independently verified whether the illustration itself is identical between the two.
The SR (SA) printing, card #060 from Sky Legend (set code SM10b), is not listed at the time of this update.
The base RR printing, card #102/173 from Tag All Stars (set code SM12a), features the same character line-up at standard rarity (we haven’t independently verified whether the illustration itself matches the SR print), and it is not listed at the time of this update. If you’re comparing certs and the number you see is #060, you’re looking at the Sky Legend SR; if it’s #102/173, that’s the Tag All Stars RR.
Because this GX card features Zapdos and Articuno alongside Moltres, it’s also covered from the other two birds’ angles in our legendary birds guide, and it sits within the broader best tag-team GX cards guide if you want to see how it compares to other multi-Pokemon GX cards.
Which Moltres Fits Your Budget
The four printings, by status at the time of this update:
- Moltres & Zapdos & Articuno GX RR base printing from Tag All Stars — not listed at the time of this update.
- Team Rocket’s Moltres ex SAR — sold out at the time of this update; the Galarian Moltres V SR — not listed at the time of this update.
- Moltres & Zapdos & Articuno GX SR (SA) from Sky Legend — not listed at the time of this update.
When buying the SR (SA) tri-legendary GX, confirm the exact set code and card number (SM10b #060) against any listing before purchase — the visually similar RR base print from Tag All Stars (SM12a #102/173) is a different card.
Standard SR vs the Galarian Moltres Full-Art Prints
The Galarian Moltres V covered in this guide is a standard SR-rarity card from Matchless Fighters. If what you’re actually after is a Galarian Moltres full-art or alt-art print specifically — a different presentation style rather than a different card — our dedicated Galarian Moltres full-art cards guide covers that angle in depth. This piece is intentionally broader: every confirmed Japanese Moltres printing across all four sets, not just the full-art treatments.
