The Raikou ex card in Storm Emeralda (M6) is a Basic Pokémon with HP 200 and two attacks, and its official Japanese text is short enough to explain line by line. This guide takes the official text of ライコウex M6 024/076 (illustrator: aky CG Works) and explains, at the rules level, what each line does. It then sets the card beside the official 60-card deck-building rules published on pokemon-card.com. It is a rules explainer only: it makes no claim about how well the card performs in organised play, and it contains no deck lists.
One point first: the official database text for ライコウex 024/076 shows no ability (特性) entry at all. It lists two attacks and a special rule. The Raikou V (S12a and SI) is an example of a Raikou card that carries an ability, and the FAQ covers that difference.
- M6 024/076, 092/076 and 108/076 are three prints of the same card: HP 200, the same two attacks, the same two-Prize rule. The prints share their rules text; the numbers and artwork differ (aky CG Works on 024 and 092, Oku on 108).
- The first attack attaches an Energy card from your deck to the Pokémon, then shuffles, and the text says it can be used even on the first player’s first turn.
- The second attack, 200 damage, carries a coin-flip drawback: on tails the Pokémon cannot use attacks during your next turn.
- The sealed route to the set is the M6 Storm Emeralda Booster Box (Sealed or No Shrink), and our M6 card list shows the set.
Card text below comes from the official Japanese card database on pokemon-card.com; English attack names and effect wording are our renderings, not official translations. Deck rules come from the official how-to-play pages. Store prices convert at ¥154/USD and are approximate.
The Card at a Glance
Storm Emeralda is the M6 set, covered in full in our Storm Emeralda complete guide; our legendary beasts guide gives its release as Friday, July 31, 2026. The official database lists three entries named ライコウex in it, and all three print the same game text.
| Card | Number | Illustrator | HP | Stage |
|---|---|---|---|---|

The 024/076 number sits inside the set’s printed count of 076, so it is the standard numbering of the set. The 092/076 and 108/076 numbers sit above the count, which marks them as secret-numbered prints. The official database does not print rarity letters, so this guide describes the prints by number. Our legendary beasts guide lists the 024/076 print as RR; Bulbapedia is reported to list 092/076 as SR and 108/076 as SAR, and the database prints none of them.
If you want the collector-side view of the three prints — the numbers, the artwork and how the two secret-numbered prints differ — the Raikou ex 024/076 card guide and the 108/076 and 092/076 guide cover it. This page is about the rules text.
How to Read the Official Card Text
The database prints a card as one string: stage and HP, then the type icon (which does not come through as text), then the attacks, then any special rule, then the weakness and resistance entries. For ライコウex 024/076 the string reads, in order: たね, HP 200, the attack いかずちをまとう, the attack パワーラッシュ200, the special rule about Pokémon ex, and a weakness entry of ×2 followed by a blank resistance (–).
Here is each part with our English rendering and what it means as a rule. The two English attack names are our renderings, so treat them as labels rather than official names (rendering).
| Part of the text | Official Japanese | English rendering | What it means in rules terms |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stage and HP | たね HP 200 | Basic, HP 200 | A Basic needs no earlier stage. The official page requires every deck to hold at least one Basic Pokémon. |
| Attack 1 | いかずちをまとう | “Wrapped in Thunder” | No damage number is printed. It fetches an Energy card from your deck (next section). |
200 | “Power Rush”, 200 damage | A damage attack with a coin-flip drawback (section after next). |
| When a Pokémon ex is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards. | The Prize cost of losing this card in play. |
| Weakness | 弱点 ×2 | Weakness ×2 | Damage from the weakness type is doubled; the resistance field is blank (–). |
The Energy type, the attack costs, the weakness type and the retreat cost are icons on the card and are not shown in the text. For the exact cost of each attack, read the card image above.
First Attack: Fetching an Energy Card
The full official text of the first attack is: このワザは、先攻プレイヤーの最初の番でも使える。自分の山札からエネルギーを1枚選び、このポケモンにつける。そして山札を切る。In English rendering: this attack can be used even on the first player’s first turn. Choose 1 Energy card from your deck and attach it to this Pokémon. Then shuffle your deck.
Three details in that wording are worth reading slowly.
- It is a search, not a draw. The Energy comes from your deck by choice (選び), so you pick which one. The deck is then shuffled, which the text states as a separate sentence after the attachment.
- It does not say “Basic” Energy. The text reads エネルギー, not 基本エネルギー. As written, the attack does not restrict the choice to Basic Energy cards. Because the database text carries no further note, the exact legal pool is whatever the card says, and the card image is the final reference.
- The attachment goes to the attacker. The text names このポケモン (this Pokémon), so the Energy is attached to Raikou ex itself, not to a Benched Pokémon.
The sentence about the first player’s first turn is an explicit permission written into this attack. The general first-turn rule is not printed on the card and is not quoted in our sources; the official rule guide on pokemon-card.com is the reference. What the card tells you is only that this one attack is not blocked on that turn.
Nothing in the text attaches a damage number to this attack. Its purpose, as written, is the Energy attachment and the shuffle.
Second Attack: 200 Damage and the Coin Flip
The second attack is パワーラッシュ with a printed damage of 200. The effect text reads: コインを1回投げウラなら、次の自分の番、このポケモンはワザが使えない。Rendered: flip a coin once; if it is tails, during your next turn this Pokémon cannot use attacks.
Reading it at the rules level:
- One coin, one flip. The text asks for a single flip (1回).
- Only tails has a consequence. The card describes the tails case and says nothing for heads, so on heads nothing additional happens beyond the printed damage.
- The restriction is about attacks. The wording is ワザが使えない, “cannot use attacks”, and it applies to the player’s next turn. The text does not describe any other restriction, so this guide does not add one.
- The number is 200. That is the figure printed beside the attack name. Any adjustment for weakness or resistance follows the standard rules and is not written on this card.
Notice that the card’s own HP is also 200. That is simply a coincidence of printed numbers; the card text draws no link between the two.
The ex Rule: Two Prize Cards
The special rule line, , means that when this Pokémon is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards. To see why that matters, look at the official win condition: each player sets aside 6 Prize cards, and the page says (in Japanese) “先にサイドを6枚とれば勝ち!” — the player who takes all 6 first wins. A single Knock Out of this Pokémon ex therefore moves the opponent two of those six steps; the Prize-card rule for other card types is on the official rules page. The same two-Prize wording is printed on the Raikou V in S12a (ポケモンVがきぜつしたとき、相手はサイドを2枚とる), adapted to the V name.
The official page lists two other ways to win as well: the opponent has no Pokémon in play, or the opponent cannot draw a card at the start of their turn. Those rules are not specific to this card, but they are the frame inside which the two-Prize line works.
This is a description of a rule, not of strategy. The card does not tell you whether to include it, how many copies to include or what to pair it with, and this guide leaves those choices to the player.
Three Prints, One Set of Rules
Because the three ライコウex prints share one text, a player choosing among them is choosing artwork, not rules. The official database shows aky CG Works as the illustrator of 024/076 and 092/076, and Oku as the illustrator of 108/076.

For each print the database text is the same: Basic, HP 200, the Energy-fetching attack, 200 with its coin flip, and the two-Prize rule. Our rendering for the 092/076 and 108/076 prints is therefore the one given above (rendering).
The sealed route to all three is the set itself. The M6 box does not let you choose which card you open, and this guide gives no pull-rate figure. The set’s booster box is currently listed in two variations:

The Official Deck-Building Rules
Any Raikou ex copy you own is used inside a deck, and the deck has to follow the rules on the official how-to-play page of pokemon-card.com. These are the rules most relevant to a single card, quoted from that page with an English reading.
| Rule | Official wording (Japanese) | English reading |
|---|---|---|
| Each player uses one deck of 60 cards. |
| Up to 4 cards with the same name. The page’s own example: Pikachu and Pikachu ex count as different names. |
| Basic Energy cards can go into a deck in any number. |
| A deck must contain at least one Basic Pokémon. |
| To use an evolved Pokémon you need its earlier-stage Basic. |
| Take 6 Prize cards first and you win. |
| Draw 7 cards from the top of the deck; the Bench holds up to 5 Pokémon. |
How these apply to this card: Raikou ex is a Basic, so it needs no earlier stage and counts toward the deck’s required Basic Pokémon. All three prints are named ライコウex, so under the copy rule as worded (by name) they count together toward the limit of four. The Energy it fetches is a separate matter, since the official page lets any number of Basic Energy cards into a deck.
The same page also gives a beginner starting ratio: 15 Energy cards (まずは15枚エネルギーを入れてみよう), with Trainers at about 30 as a guide (バトルを有利にできるトレーナーズを、30枚を目安に入れよう!). That leaves 15 Pokémon in the page’s example figure. This is an official orientation for first-time builders, not a deck list, and we do not extend it into card choices.
Regulation. The official regulation page states that the Standard format accepts cards whose regulation mark in the lower left reads H, I or J, effective from Friday, January 23, 2026. pokemon-card.com had published no notice of a further change as of October 29, 2026. The mark printed on the M6 card is not in the database text, so read it on the card itself. If you are new to the game, our beginner’s guide to playing walks through a turn.
What the Database Text Does Not Show
A rules explainer should be clear about its limits. The table below separates what the official text confirms from what it leaves out.
| Item | Status |
|---|---|
| HP 200, Basic, two attacks, two-Prize rule | Printed in the official Japanese text |
| Ability (特性) | None appears in the text for 024/076, 092/076 or 108/076 |
| Energy costs of both attacks | Icons on the card; not shown in the text |
| Weakness type and retreat cost | Icons on the card; the text gives weakness ×2 and no resistance, and does not show the icons |
| Official English attack names | Not stated in our sources; the English names here are renderings |
| Regulation mark on the M6 cards | Not stated in the database text; check the card |
| Rarity letters of 092/076 and 108/076 | Not printed in the database; this guide uses numbers |
| General first-turn rule | Not on the card; see the official rule guide |
If a detail you need is on the unknown side of that table, the card in your hand or the card image is the authority, then the official rule guide.
Where This Card Meets the Trademark Reports
On October 29, 2026 fan sites reported a Japanese trademark filing for 「イナズマの衝撃」 (working English translation “Lightning Impact”; no official English name exists), which collectors read as a possible Raikou set; nothing is announced. Our Lightning Impact trademark guide explains what is confirmed and what is not, and the ex★ and 2027 trademarks round-up sets all four reported names side by side.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Raikou ex (M6 024/076) have an ability?
No. The official database text for ライコウex 024/076 shows two attacks and the Pokémon ex special rule, and no 特性 (ability) entry. The Raikou V (S12a and SI) is an example of a Raikou card with an ability, しゅんそく, which lets you draw a card once during your turn while it is in the Active spot.
How much damage does Raikou ex’s second attack do, and what is the drawback?
The second attack, パワーラッシュ, has 200 printed beside it. Its effect says to flip a coin once, and on tails this Pokémon cannot use attacks during your next turn. The text describes no consequence for heads.
Can Raikou ex use its first attack on the first player’s first turn?
Yes, that is written into the attack: このワザは、先攻プレイヤーの最初の番でも使える (this attack can be used even on the first player’s first turn). The attack then attaches 1 Energy card chosen from your deck to the Pokémon and shuffles the deck.
How many Prize cards does the opponent take when Raikou ex is Knocked Out?
Two. The special rule reads With 6 Prize cards each in a game, taking all 6 first wins, per the official how-to-play page.
How many Raikou ex cards can go in a 60-card deck?
The official page says up to 4 cards with the same name (同じ名前のカードは4枚まで), with an exception for Basic Energy cards. All three M6 prints are named ライコウex, so as the rule is worded they count together toward the limit of four.
Do the 024/076, 092/076 and 108/076 prints play differently?
No. The official Japanese text is identical on all three: HP 200, the same two attacks and the same two-Prize rule. The prints differ in artwork and number, with aky CG Works illustrating 024/076 and 092/076 and Oku illustrating 108/076.
